The development of low-carbon technologies is the most practical way to achieve significant emissions reductions without lowering living standards in richer countries and harming development prospects in poorer ones, according to the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) World Trade Report 2022, which was released at the COP27 climate summit in Egypt.
The WTO has the opportunity to:
- Enhance its role in dealing with trade and climate change
- Decarbonize the world economy
- Encourage the use of low-carbon technologies
