Tesla was removed from the S&P 500’s ESG Index as a part of the annual update. Companies like Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and even Exxon Mobil made it to the list.
The S&P 500 ESG Index effectively recommends firms to investors based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ranking.
The criteria for the listing include:
- Data points per firm about how enterprises affect the environment
- How the corporation handles its stakeholders, including customers, employees, and vendors, in addition to shareholders
