The government has allocated just under £14 million to a number of projects aimed at leveraging digital technologies to improve the efficiency and productivity of critical manufacturing processes. The latest round of funding awards from the Sustainable Smart Factory Competition, announced late last week, are expected to create 1,000 jobs across the UK and save 300,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, the equivalent of 65,000 cars.
The projects awarded will be able to:
- Reduce energy consumption
- Boost growth for local businesses
- Deploy artificial intelligence (AI)
