In a comprehensive new research, a group of prominent Conservative backbench MPs explores how the UK might address the “energy trilemma” and achieve decarbonization, energy security, and lower costs. The Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) should be separated into the Department for Business and the Department for Energy, according to the 1922 BEIS Backbench Committee’s recommendations for a number of key market and governance reforms.
These reforms are meant to:
- Provide residents with 100% energy bill reimbursement
- Implement frack projects there
- Establishment backing for the emerging floating offshore wind industry
