Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that his administration will introduce 18 pieces of legislation when the new parliament meets this week for the first time since Labor took power in light of the deteriorating economic situation and the significance of addressing climate change.
Before the Australian parliament met in Canberra, Albanese gave a speech to Labor lawmakers and pledged to change how politics was conducted to assist Australia in getting out of its political rut.
Some of the goals the newly elected government is trying to fulfil include:
- A target of reducing emissions by 43% till 2030
- Aiming for discontinuation of new coal and gas projects
