The High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC), one of several research groups established by the government’s innovation agency Innovate UK, has warned that tracking emissions reductions across UK industry has become “virtually impossible” due to differing carbon reporting standards.
Issues highlighted surrounding the Scope 3 emissions include:
- GHGs emitted by a company’s supply chain
- Difficulty in tracking material extraction emissions
