Alibaba Group Holding has said it has made progress in cutting emissions in the latest financial year to boost its goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations by 2030. The Chinese e-commerce giant is pursuing these initiatives amid the country’s slow economic recovery and a sweeping corporate restructuring.
According to Alibaba’s latest Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, the company has achieved a few milestones, which include:
- Reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 22.9 million tonnes
- Creating 70 million job opportunities in the financial year
- Encouraging consumers to adopt a greener lifestyle
