In a recent report on America’s progress, the Rhodium Group found that U.S. emissions would fall 17 percent to 25 percent by 2030 under the current policy. As a result, the nation falls between 1.7 billion and 2.3 billion metric tonnes shy of President Joe Biden’s targets. It would take a mix of new federal rules and infrastructure investments to clean up power plants, factories, residences, and cars in order to achieve the target.
It also further discusses issues, including:
- The Supreme Court having limited authority in creating greenhouse gas regulations
- It has become more challenging for the U.S. to reach the emission targets due to rising energy and fuel prices.
