Members of the UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance have committed to decarbonizing their investment portfolios in accordance with a 1.5°C trajectory, with net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Members of the Alliance also agree to publish science-based interim portfolio reductions for targets set using the Alliance’s Target Setting Protocol, demonstrating their support for the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) proposed rule modifications on climate-related disclosures.
The SEC’s proposed modifications require corporations to disclose:
- Forward-looking emission paths for Scopes 1, 2, and 3
- Material scope reporting upstream/downstream emissions
- The degree to which the company’s business strategy and investment plans are in line with the Paris Agreement
