The flagship report indicates that globally, governmental spending has to increase dramatically to meet the ‘Net-Zero’ goals for 2050
- ‘Clean energy measures’ spending represents around 2% of the total economic response to Covid-19
- Spending on clean energy generation and networks has increased by around 30% compared to the recent past
- Current projects and policies would put 2023 at a global 800 million tonnes of CO2 below ‘no-action projections but still 3500 million tonnes above net-zero 2050 pathway requirements
- Current spending and investment projections are around 35% of what is needed to reach 2050 net-zero goals
